The Day-to-Day

  • Lead and support the QC team to uphold Texas Materials’ values of Safety, Integrity, and Quality.
  • Promote a safe work environment with a goal of ZERO incidents.
  • Maintain QC/QA processes to meet and exceed state and federal requirements.
  • Communicate KPIs and cost-control priorities to team members.
  • Support customer and sales team requests for sample collection, packaging, testing, and shipment.
  • Coordinate with HMA production and QC teams to meet operational needs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve customer issues to benefit both Texas Materials and the customer.
  • Manage team performance with Frontline Leadership Training (FLT) through coaching, feedback, and discipline as needed.
  • Maintain current QC/QA certifications and monitor lab equipment and certifications.
  • Mentor team members in technical, operational, and customer relations skills.

Job Requirements

  • Participate actively in industry associations, including TXAPA; maintain relationships with relevant agencies.
  • Manage financial operations for the quality control unit.
  • Oversee record-keeping, report preparation, and equipment/supply ordering.
  • Review test procedures and results for adherence to established policies.
  • Oversee specialty products, including testing and development.
  • Conduct lab tours for the public and visitors.
  • Supervise QC technicians, manage workloads, and oversee training/certifications.
  • Assist with interviewing and hiring as needed.
  • Oversee bi-annual 3rd-party product testing.
  • Ensure regular and timely onsite attendance.

Skills You Need

  • High school diploma or GED required; Geology or technical degree may substitute for experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of quality control experience preferred.
  • At least 1 year of experience managing a team of 2 or more.
  • Ability to obtain or hold certifications: TxDOT Level 1A HMA Plant Production Specialist, Level 1B HMA Roadway Specialist, and Level 2 Mix Design Specialist.
