The Day-to-Day

  • Oversee dispatch functions, coordinating with sales, shipping, receiving, customer service, and logistics operations.
  • Manage driver activity and equipment usage from start to end of the day.
  • Process ticket loads promptly; track trucks throughout the order, from start to completion.
  • Prepare delivery tickets and shipping documents; ensure drivers are ready to load.
  • Enter orders into the system, manage order availability, and support the inside sales team.
  • Work closely with customer service to address product availability and logistics issues.
  • Review and confirm orders against delivery tickets before shipping.
  • Provide real-time updates on driver and route statuses using various communication tools to mitigate issues.
  • Prepare and review daily shipping reports, delivery logs, and loading/unloading records.
  • Follow company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for a safe working environment.
  • Maintain professionalism and courtesy with customers, drivers, and colleagues.
  • Submit daily invoicing to Accounts Payable after dispatching deliveries.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Pass DOT physical, drug screening, and criminal background check; MVR must meet company and DOT standards.
  • Adhere to safety protocols as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Demonstrate a professional, courteous demeanor toward co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist others as needed.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 30 pounds and endure intermittent climbing, bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
  • Capable of walking, standing, or sitting for extended periods.

Skills You Need

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience; background in transportation or building materials is preferred.
  • Strong math skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Effective multitasking and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret maps for route planning.
