The Day-to-Day

  • Receive daily instructions from the Foreperson or Superintendent.
  • Assist in organizing the mobilization of needed equipment and materials.
  • Help supervise and coordinate the work of the crew, ensuring daily tasks are completed safely and efficiently.
  • Provide hands-on support by operating equipment or performing labor tasks when needed.
  • Ensure work is performed according to job plans and specifications under the direction of the Foreperson.
  • Assist in monitoring compaction and overall work quality.
  • Report any changes in job conditions to the Foreperson or Superintendent.
  • Help ensure all equipment is operated and maintained properly by the crew.
  • Promote and uphold our safety culture by following all safety protocols.
  • Keep track of time and materials used on the job, assisting with daily records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Pass a pre-employment “Fit for Work” physical.
  • Be able to provide valid documentation for the I-9 Immigration document.
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
  • Report to work at the designated start time.
  • Be able to work long hours when required.
  • Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Must be able to complete safe driver training, possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • May be required to have or acquire a commercial driver’s license (CDL) as necessary.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.

Skills You Need

  • Knowledge of asphalt paving techniques and related equipment.
  • Ability to assist with the organization of daily tasks and equipment mobilization.
  • Capable of working with direct reports, co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
  • Problem-solving skills to assist the Foreperson in overcoming job challenges.
  • Ability to read and follow job plans and specifications.
  • Basic understanding of grades, slopes, and related mathematical calculations.
  • Related experience in the asphalt or construction field, minimum 3 years (preferred).
